From Accidental Beginnings

Most portrait photographers will swear they came out of the womb holding a camera, will gush about melting at the sight of love at weddings, and always have some long-winded tale about capturing the “perfect moments.” Honestly? It’s a little much. But here’s the thing: our story isn’t like that. We’ll tell you that this was all kind of an accident…

Years ago, in 2009 to be exact, there was this tall guy, let’s call him Robert, who was making a name for himself in commercial photography and videography. He was photographing all sorts of widgets, gadgets, and all kinds of boring stuff that didn’t exactly scream creative or inspiring. But then one day, out of the blue, a huge sports league asked Robert if he’d be interested in doing something a little different: taking portraits of sports teams.

Now, Robert had zero experience with sports portraits, but in true “why not?” fashion, he said, “Sure, I’ll give it a shot.” So, he called up his wife, Angie, who had an eye for detail and a natural way with people, and together they set off on what would turn out to be one of the most unexpected adventures of their lives.

Fast forward a year and this accidental business had taken over their lives. They went from doing a few random portrait gigs here and there to working almost exclusively on sports photography. They were hooked. The rush of capturing kids in action, the challenge of getting the perfect shot, and the pure joy of seeing families light up over their images? They couldn’t get enough.

The funny part? They didn’t plan any of it. It just happened. And the more they did it, the more they loved it.

Years later, PortraitDivision has grown beyond what Robert and Angie could’ve ever imagined. They’ve been featured in a ton of things, traveled to some amazing locations, and met so many incredible people along the way. But they’ll tell you all about that later. Because at the end of the day, portraiture is not about them. It’s about you. It’s about the story you want to tell. And we’re here to make that story look incredible.
